150 East 78th Street is a distinguished 16-storey condominium building situated in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, designed by the renowned architectural firm Robert A.M. Stern Architects. The building’s design pays homage to the area’s rich architectural heritage, seamlessly integrating with the surrounding townhomes and tree-lined streets. Its façade features distinctive handset Indiana limestone, patterned brick, and ornamental metal detailing, reflecting the classicism characteristic of the Upper East Side. The structure comprises 25 residences, each offering three to five bedrooms, with layouts ranging from half-floor and full-floor units to duplexes. Each residence is accessed via a private elevator vestibule, ensuring both privacy and convenience for its occupants.

The interiors of 150 East 78th Street are crafted by the esteemed designer Robert Couturier, marking his first fully commissioned residential project. Couturier’s design philosophy introduces a prewar sensibility infused with Parisian flair, creating spaces that are both timeless and contemporary. The residences feature spacious great rooms, master bedrooms with oversized arched windows, and eat-in kitchens designed in collaboration with cabinetry maker Christopher Peacock. These kitchens are equipped with honed Statuarietto stone countertops and backsplashes, custom polished chrome hardware, and Lacanche Cluny or Saulieu ranges, handmade in Burgundy, France.

The building’s exterior design is a testament to classical architecture, with arched windows, limestone pilasters, and rich green metal and glass conservatories. The canopied entrance on East 78th Street complements the neighboring townhomes, enhancing the building’s integration into the community. A continuous row of arched windows at the parlor floor expresses the residents’ clubroom on the building’s facades, while the four-storey limestone-clad base ties the building into the scale of neighbouring townhouses.
