Carlos Alberto Naves
Carlos Alberto Naves was a Brazilian architect active in the mid twentieth century best known for his work in Brasilia, Brazil’s modernist capital city. His design approach reflected the modern movement that shaped the city’s early buildings and urban fabric. Naves designed Santuário Dom Bosco (Dom Bosco Sanctuary) in Brasília, a striking modernist church completed in the 1960s. The building features tall pointed arch windows filled with blue stained glass that illuminate the interior with rich colour, setting it apart from other structures in the nation’s planned capital.
